It was a news article about cosmetic surgery in the paper that led to the series ‘A New Nature’. It included interviews with people who had something done surgically, and also, the details of surgeries were extensively discussed. I was stunned with disgust but also curiosity: Why do we always tend to manipulate and bend ourselves until we consider ourselves as perfect? I translated this concept to the act of literally manipulating nature (plants), by moving them under a scanner until I thought the image was perfect, just like cosmetic surgery tends to do.
